Privacy Policy

NewsSphere is an independent story-understanding website operated from New Zealand. This page describes the information involved in using the service.

What we collect and why

Sign-in email and account: When you request an email sign-in link, your email is sent to Supabase Authentication to deliver the link. The authentication flow can create a Supabase account containing your email address and account identifier. This lets you sign in without a password and sync followed stories across devices.

Followed stories: Following works locally in your browser when you are not signed in. When you sign in, story identifiers, titles, categories and follow/read timestamps are synced to a Supabase database linked to your account.

Usage analytics: NewsSphere uses Google Analytics 4 on its production website to understand visits and engagement. Google may process technical and usage information subject to its own policies. Browser storage is also used to remember your session and reading preferences.

Feedback: If you choose to send feedback through our linked Google Form, the information you submit is processed by Google Forms.

Who processes information

Supabase supports authentication and followed-story syncing. Google Analytics supports site analytics. Google Forms receives feedback when you use that form. News content may link to external news publishers, whose privacy practices apply when you visit their sites.

Emails and marketing

We currently use sign-in email links for authentication. Signing in does not subscribe you to a newsletter or marketing messages. Automated story-update emails have not been enabled. If they are added, NewsSphere will provide separate opt-in choices and unsubscribe options.

Retention and your choices

You can unfollow stories or sign out at any time. Signing out does not automatically delete your Supabase account or all previously synced data. To request access, correction or deletion of account information, use the feedback form below and identify the email associated with your NewsSphere account. We will verify requests before taking account-related actions.

Your browser may also allow you to clear local storage and manage analytics-related settings. Clearing browser data does not itself remove information stored in a signed-in account.

Security and updates

NewsSphere uses Supabase authentication and account-scoped database access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this notice if the service or its data practices change.

Questions or requests? Contact the NewsSphere operator through the feedback form. Please do not send passwords or sensitive information.
